I started becoming a filmmaker while I was at my peak of cycling fever. Everything I used my camera for, was to shoot bikes and the stories around them. I had one of the most fulfilling moments in my life, combining my two biggest passions. However, my passion for filmmaking grew bigger and I believe that to truly become a filmmaker, you need to burst your bubble and explore the world in all the possible forms, and cycling is just a drop in the creative ocean.
#RunTheRat was that 'first flight' out of the cycling nest and it was the confirmation of why I love what I do. Taking a camera on a cycling trip and pressing the record button, was never about the bikes, but about the camera, saving those experiences and memories forever.
This project was even more special because I had full creative freedom to come up with a concept. The good ol' Forrest Gump came to the rescue and helped with some inspiration to portray that this is a welcoming event and that everyone is invited.
